This was a group project for which I was Project Manager.
Our task was to create a website and create all the content for it. We decided we would investigate the reporting of the news. We were all interested in current affairs and the way in which newspapers reported news, usually, we felt, by way of inciting panic in the public, or inadvertently promoting hatred towards minorities.
I was responsible for managing the project, and the 4 people in the team, in terms of roles and tasks. I primarily used BasecampHQ
for managing the project and communicating with the group. I found the project very useful, it enabled me to develop skills that I didn't even know, or think, I had.
Whilst being the project manager, I was also responsible for the HTML, CSS and javascript on the site. The designer in our group Tom Brierley produced screen designs in photoshop and I developed the site based on those.

This was both a personal project and a university project.
My university project was to develop and research a Multimedia Product. My cousin is studying Theatre Set Design at Royal School of Music and Drama (RSAMD) in Glasgow and didn't have a portfolio website. So I thought this would be the ideal project to chose, since I could develop a website for my cousin, and use the same website for my project.
I was really pleased with the photoshop design of the website, but it was quite difficult to implement it! However I managed it, and learned a lot of javascript in the process.
I decided to give the portfolio a theatre feel. I therefore designed the page to look like it was being displayed on a theatre stage. I used images from the theatre shows for the hover over links.

For this project I had to come with an idea for a product and research and develop it. As I was giving up smoking, I thought how an online site might be useful for quitters, and for those who have quit and simply need support
I created an online survey and got over 100 people to answer it and asked them various questions to help me understand what users would want in such a website, and if they liked the suggestions I had for it.
Based on my results, I built the website. I decided to use primary colours to give the site a positive feel, because I thought that was important in a site that was meant to be supportive.
I also had an idea about making an online calendar so the user could track their progress, and any friends or family of the user could too, with their permission.

This was a first year project and my first venture into JavaSript.
This program's function was to take a user's input, validate it and then output a list of quotes for car insurance based on the values entered by the user. I learned how to use the DOM to change aspects of the page. I also learned about how to use javascript to add user interaction to a web site.
All the interaction was done using javascript. I also added tooltips, so that when a user hovered over a field, a tip appeared.
This was a personal project for myself. Whilst on holiday from University in 2008, I designed and built this website. You can click the image to go to the website.
I had to think of the best way to get maximum search engine optimisation, so the first thing I did was buy a domain name with websites in the title. The domain name is absolute-websites.com. I liked the name and thought it sounded positive.
I then began to plan my website and all the pages and links that would go into it. I researched SEO and optimised the website for maximum search ranking. I registered with Google Analytics to track my site and how many visitors etc I was getting.
I added javascript and Flash to my website. I also found an open source Flash carousel program and added that to my site.
I designed business cards to fit in with the branding I had applied to the site.
